Project - No Polythene

No Polythene Phase I

Our first community service project for the year was nothing but a huge success!

The project ‘No Polythene’ was carried out under two phases to create awareness about the harmful usage of polythene and the importance of protecting the ocean.

The first phase of the project was held on the 24th of June, 2018 at the Mount Lavinia Beach. With the contribution of the club members, we managed to clean 500M of the coastal line.

No Polythene Phase II

The Rotaract Club of Colombo Mid-city, GFlock and the Associated Motor Ways joined hands to organize the second phase of No Polythene. This amazing project took place on the 6th of October, 2018 at the Mount Lavinia beach with the contribution of our club members and the participants of the Rotaract Club of Colombo East, Centennial United, and the ICBT. Several volunteers who were passionate about saving the ocean and minimizing the environmental pollution caused by polythene joined us as well. All the volunteers were provided with T-shirts, caps, and breakfast.

The rain didn’t stop us from cleaning 1KM along the coastal line of the Mount Lavinia Beach.

No Polythene Phase III

Rotaract Club of Colombo Mid-City along with the Interact Club of Thurstan College, organised the third and the final phase of the 'No Polythene' project series. This took place 8.30 a.m. onwards, at the Mount Lavinia Beach on the 20th of March, 2019.

We love, and we are extremely touched by the feedback received upon the completion of this project. When we saw people gathering around and joining to help us, we knew this was a worthy cause as well as a memorable one!
