Project Akura

The signature project of Rotaract Club of Colombo Mid City, 'Akura' aims in uplifting the education standards of the students from rural areas. It was held on the 15th of December,2018 for the second consecutive year. The project was chaired by Rtr. Milan Smahon, the Secretary for the year 2018/19.


This year we took happiness to Gawela Vidyalaya in Ettampitiya, Bandarawela. 170 new school bags and bottles, 2600 exercise books and 2969 stationery items were made as donations to more than 170 students in the school. This was mainly funded by our own club members and the Rotary Club, but not to forget the tremendous support we received from our peer Rotaract clubs, especially, the Rotaract Club of UOC Faculty Of Science and the Rotaract Club of NSBM. 

We are equally grateful to  Umali Tillakaratne, Amrita De Silva, Wasthi Productions, Mario Ananda, Sachini Nipunsala, Janai Priyai, Buvini Diyalagoda for their humble support towards creating awareness on our project.
We hope to continuously carry out this project, getting better year by year; getting more people involved, to send love to little children in rural areas waiting for a hand to rise up.
